A court of Saudi Arabia commuted a death sentence of five people convicted in the 2018 case of Jamal Khashoggi reported by Saudi media.

What was the history behind Case? 

On 2nd October 2018 in Turkey's Istanbul City in US journalist walked into the commerce embassy. At a meeting, the Saudi's intelligence agency officer named Maher Mutreb was asking something weird to killing someone. US journalist name is Jamal Khashoggi was a Saudi citizen and working as a journalist in Saudi and he preferred free writing to talk about Nationalism and wanted to have reforms in the government.

In 2015 Muhammad Bin Salman came into power. He believed that Jamal was a culprit and banned on his Twitter account and free Journalism. So Jamal decides to leave Saudi Arabia, and he went to the USA. Here he started journalism with the Washington Post newspaper and inscribed on Muhammad bin Salman has taken power and having his predominance including he had a fear of arresting in Saudi on free journalism. 

Jamal wanted to have transparency in the Saudi government not having against it, but Salman had assumed him as a culprit. 

Why did Khashoggi came to Istanbul?

Khashoggi was divorced and he found another partner in turkey named Hatice Cengiz came to meet her. For getting married, he needed some of the paper from Saudi, and he took appoint and reached to the consulate in Istanbul, Turkey. This was the last time where Jamal found to enter the embassy and he never found to come out. So Hatice Cengiz informed Turkey's officer. The Officer asked to the embassy about Jamal Khashoggi but the Saudi embassy replied that Khashoggi had left the embassy.

What was Turkey's Opinion about murder?

On 9th October Recep Erdogan said, "Khashoggi got murdered by a death squad" having a connection with Saudi also included that he was slaughtered and pack him into a big suitcase and took him out in a black Mercedes car. 

Turkey had evidence of it with camera footage which shows fifteen people from Saudi entered into the consulate with a doctor and a top intelligence officer. Another one was audio recording was recorded talks of the Saudi Consulate. That recording after handed over to the CIA and United Nations and it was credible in 2019 United Nations publishes its report, which shows what happened with Khashoggi.

On 2nd October As Khashoggi entered into the consulate he got orders to go back to Saudi but he denied and he tried to escape, but other people caught him and He kept saying, "I can't breath" but at last he died. 

Yet not found that what happened with his body, but people guessed that he was thrown in an acidic, well or he would be slaughtered with a knife. 

Which actions Turkey and Saudi took against it?

Basis of evidences turkey case on Saudi's eighteen people and in 2019 Saudi also case against eleven people in court. But killing was internationally condemned and cause diplomatic crises between Saudi and close allies including the USA. According to Saudi public prosecution, September 31 individuals investigated and 21 was arrested.

In January 2019 eleven people (who have not been named) put on court trials in Riyadh.

In December 2019 court commuted five people to hang but after appealing, it was converted into twenty-year in jail. Still, no one knows these people who they were also Saudi didn't disclose those people. 

What was Hatice Cengiz said?

She was waiting for Khashoggi outside the Saudi Consulate. She said, "The ruling handed down today in Saudi Arabia again makes a complete mockery of justice."

She also found credible evidence to warrant an investigation into Prince Mohammad and other Saudi officials. Including Saud al Qahtani (MBS's right-wing). He tweeted in 2017 that he never took action without the permission of Prince Salman he is just an employee. Khashoggi talk with his friend may time about Qahatani, and he forced him to return Saudi. 

Also, CIA boss Gina Haspel heard the consulate audio recording and concluded investigated that MBS ordered killing Khashoggi. But Trump Administration didn't take action against him by saying," the man is considered innocent until the crime is proved."
